GREEN HUB FESTIVAL 2016
Our ongoing project "Bugun Liocichla – a call for conservation, is a community-based video film. Bugun Liocichla was discovered by Dr. Raman Athreya in Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and was described as a new bird species in 2005. Not much is known about the bird as there are only 17 individuals left. A critically endangered bird under the IUCN red list, the bird is named after the Bugun community that resides in the area. The key motivation of this project is to bring about the need for conserving this habitat. Eaglenest is an oasis in the midst of fast-changing landscapes. Keeping ‘Bugun Liocichlia’ as central to the film, the project will help generate discussion among the community, forest department as well as general public about the ecological security of their future.
